The Back-to-School Double Notebook Giveaway

Did you somehow forget to buy a laptop for college? Did you somehow forget to buy a backpack? Did you somehow forget to find an apartment? Well, we're furnishing one lucky student with one brand new notebook, a kickass Timbuk2 bookbag and a... second brand new notebook, which will make up for you not having a home. All you have to do is be a dilligent Twitter follower for the next few days.

The Package

The notebooks are a "companion" set, meant to work well for a student geeky enough to have two separate computers: a netbook for taking notes, a larger notebook for heavier tasks and a bag that holds both. Reviews on both units to come in the next few days.

Rules

  • You gotta be a student (we'll ask for a .edu, non-alumni email address).
  • You gotta be in the USA.
  • You can't win at any of the sites below -- but please feel free to enter their giveaways as well!

Oops, I'll clear up the air about this being a "worldwide" contest.

We are given carte blanche (for the most part) in deciding a winner. Given that we are a specifically a college blog and that this is a back-to-school, all of our giveaways are student-centric.

We stay true to our core audience and give back to them as much as possible. Our apologies if you are not a student.

I'm back. I noticed my name in a post that I didn't make (uncool). But i'm here to report that i've officially signed up to start college. I don't have a .edu address and don't know that they're going to be providing me one, but I can provide other proof if need be.

nooooooo

I don't have a camera see if I won this giveaway I could have used the notebooks web cam to shoot the video

This is crap! This is excluding all Students around the world.. you say you are trying to keep it in the College arena.. for students.. but you don't have any excuse as to why you are limiting it to USA only! makes it very unfair to any other student in the world.

The details for this contest stinks. If I'd known that it would have required a video cam, i could have borrowed one ahead of time. But alas, here i sit, less than 5 mins from a pizza place, and no camcorder. :(

Its kind of a shame, really. The contest, if used correctly, could bring a lot of traffic to the websites involved. Lots of Kiwis participating, I know, because a Kiwi website is one of the ones in the contest. HackCollege is doing themselves more harm than good, though. Not giving satisfactory explanations as to why their rules and regs are different than all the other sites (not to mention hiding them under the 'read more' heading). Even limiting it to only those US students who are at the big unis that give them the e-mail addys. You really cocked this up, guys. You might want to take some business courses or something.

I can see the US only, and I can also see the student only - but a first-come-first-serve isn't fair for people in different time zones across the US, and it isn't fair for the ones who don't have a camcorder, and its not fair that some people have faster upload speeds, or live closer to a pizza joint, or for females (a girl eating (x2) 12" pizzas in one sitting? few and far between). A simple random computer drawing among the applied people would be the fairest, easiest, and best for PR

This is ridiculous. I can see student-only, what with the "back to school" theme. But US only is pushing it. On top of that you made people constantly follow your (mostly uninteresting) twitters to finally get the rules. And the rules come and they first disqualify anyone who doesn't own a video cam/has slow connection/different time zones (like someone already said) but also could potentially cause someone to get sick. I'm not participating because frankly I don't need to feed like a pig because some stranger thought it would be funny to see. No offense to those who usually eat 2 12" pizzas in one sitting, but for those of us who don't do it regularly (...or ever...) it is a very bad idea.

In all these contests, the only fair ones are those who do a random drawing, open to everyone worldwide.

Regardless, good luck to whoever does go through with it and be smart. No need to get sick for some contest.

I've finished eating the 2 pizzas! How can I get the video to you?

All done.Btw, why the heck it's not universal ? It should be so according to HP & Ivvy Worldwide's T&C.

Wow! What sore losers. GROW UP!!! Many contests have rules that limit participation. Even jobs have limits of who can apply (ie Must be able to comfortably lift 50 lb. Must pass background check, etc.) As an employer I would not want to hire such whiners that could not problem solve!!! I like that the contest was done in the spirit of a scavanger hunt. Not everything in life is fair and the fact that the team posted other websites that had similar contests was above what I would expect. Again grow up.
