A great website should possess large volumes of traffic and links. You have to put in a little bit of effort to market your website if you want to reach out to people on the internet and make your site noticeable. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money ...

I think you should ask if students know what Creative Commons is.
So...what you're telling me is that I shouldn't be trying to reach college students on Twitter, huh?
In any case, great video! I'm actually kind of curious about what sorts of social media platforms college students DO use. I mean, aside from the obvious Facebook and MySpace, are they on things like Digg and Delicious? Or is it just us techie geeks? :)
I'm in college and I'm a HUGE twitter user. I have a few friends at school that know what it is/use it, but the majority of people I know that are already on the site are people I met originally online, lol. I'm slowly trying to get some more friends to do it (or at least follow me) so they won't have to ask me every day "hey how are you?"... cause if they were following me on Twitter, they'd already know ;)
I think Twitter will hit the mainstream within 2009 or 2010 but will it hit College students? Maybe half. I think College students are so comfortable with Facebook and MySpace that they won't want to branch out. Twitter is a great tool though. I will admit I am addicted to it. I think I only have 3 of my friends from FaceBook that use Twitter. Though only 1 of them really knows what it is and how to use it. I think we will see some major changes towards Twitter and other social networks within the next 2 years as they mature.
I find it that facebook has won over college students in the social networking aspect.
Being a college student myself I find it better to use twitter just because its so much easier to share recent information with your friends. Using facebook, people won't find out something about you until they click your profile or a few days later (or hours) it will show up on their news feed.
I love using twitter and I am starting to dislike facebook little by little everyday.
Interesting video. I'd be tempted to do the same at my uni but I could guess the answer. 99 no's and 2 yes's
Twitter is nearing the end of the early adopters stage. It has crossed a line recently though as Britney Spears has joined up. I think this sees the tipping point for Twitter, which kinda puts me off.
I love using it now as it's a bit of a secret. We shall see what happens in the next few months!
To further what Paddy said above, Twitter is at the end of its early adopter stage, with a staggering number of such users. Performing a similar survey here in the UK would show just how few people are on Twitter or have heard of it. The real test comes now as people outside of tech, web2.0, blogging and social media marketing circles start to find out about it. How well will it integrate with regular people's lives? Twitter's model for marketing needs to shift, and it has to appeal and reach out to non-technical users. Who do Twitter have that could push their innovation and take the service to market?
As an internet aficionado, I have to say that this was quite interesting to me. I am a college student and have my own blog, twitter, and have a presence in many different parts of the net. I wonder how Twitter will reach out to the "Facebook" demographic...
I'm a student at UNC, so I can't predict how other universities will trend. I can say, however, that Twitter will never grow popular here. I have several hundred Facebook friends, most of which post to their status more than once a day. Facebook will remain dominant here for a *long* time. I have a twitter account, but only have about 10 IRL friends as Twitter followers. Most of my followers are internet friends. Hope my feedback helps!
Twitter use in college will explode for sure! I know this because I am a heavy twitter user and I am currently only a junior in high school. Most of my friends use twitter and many of their friends use twitter. I think I can speak for my crowd when I say that we will all continue our obsession through college and beyond (if twitter stays in business). So yes, I think the high school generation will add to the number of twitter users in college.
I'm very surprised that so few college students use twitter. I'm a college student that loves twitter, but is not on facebook. I think you can conjure, and display less drama on the internet in 140 characters or less.
I am a college student, and I am a Twitter addict!!
My friends and I started using it and we quickly adopted it and started sharing it with our circle of friends. My friends that do not use twitter sometimes feel left out because they do not know what we are talking about when we refer to something that we posted on twitter. I use it to communicate with my friends and also follow some of my favorite companies and blog authors. It has also gotten me closer to some friends... for example: I tweeted one day , " Class is canceled, going to hang out in the student union" and 10 minutes later 3 of my friends showed up at the student union because they saw my tweet.

LOLZ! I love the clueless people who try to guess... beautiful.

Great vid!
I don't think 101 is nearly a large enough sample size to get a good idea of just about any information.

Do You Know What Twitter Is? - College 101 - A Response from Boston University
"Is it a technology blog type of thing?"
Actually, that's pretty close, I guess? Although, it starts with tech peeps, now its starting to branch out.
I wonder how many around my area know about Twitter. It'll only be a matter of time until more people use it. Great vid :)

LOL... "Isn't it some kind of technology thing?"
