CES: ooVoo

Mike caught up with the guys behind ooVoo, the free video conferencing suite. ooVoo demoed the software and Mike had an epiphany: because ooVoo is Web-based, he won't need to download any software. Mike says this will help in situations where he doesn't have administrator privileges.

CES: Sony PartyShot

I don't think I've ever seen Lesinski so excited.

Chris selects his best find from the Consumer Electronics Show 2010: the Sony PartyShot. As he describes, "It pans, tilts and zooms to take good pictures." This thing is awesome and means you'll never have to get stuck behind the camera at a party again.

We sat down at CES 2010 on the NBC Universal broadcast stage to review some of their favorite gadgets from this year's convention.

Among the devices we review in this video:

Special thanks to NBC Universal for donating stage time to little ol' HackCollege. We couldn't have brought this to you without them. Special thanks to Katie Primm and especially Jon Accarrino

Stay tuned for the next video from CES, our eReader roundup!

Guest Post: How YouTube Can Boost Your Grades

Well, there goes the afternoon... Photo by flickr user topgold.

Today's guest post comes from Daniel Sims. He's a freshman at Columbia University. You can read more of his writing over at his blog, Habitation Intention. I like this guest post.

YouTube has been marked as a plague in the undergraduate community. It has a never ending stream of people hurting themselves, cats doing funny things, people singing on a webcam, catchy songs and other distractions keep students from their purpose (to provide cheap labor for a professor's study).

Jokes aside, YouTube does waste a lot of time. However, it can be useful. You can watch lectures, post your own lessons or stay motivated with YouTube.

CES: Mid-Conference Round Up

We look a lot more professional than we actually are.

S-word is crazy in Las Vegas right now. Mike, Chris and I are getting little sleep and a lot of partying in during the Consumer Electronics shows. We're furiously shooting video which we'll be releasing throughout the weekend. We've talked with Ford, Victorinox, Sony, iSkin, iWave and so many more. Everyone's got some really cool stuff in store this year.

NBC has donated two time slots for us on their broadcast stage. We'll be waking up bright and early tomorrow to shoot our first show. Tomorrow's show will cover all of the coolest student-oriented gadgets that we've come across here in Sin City. On Sunday's show, we will review every single eBook reader we can get our hands on. Bomb. Dot com.

If there's anything you'd like to see us review, shoot us an email to dear@hackcollege.com. We will track down the product and corner one of their reps.
