Save Money, Sharpen Razors with Jeans
Monday, September 14, 2009 by
Mike Bertolino It's no secret that blades for razors that work are expensive. It's also the case that most college students don't have the money to drop around twenty bones when the original blades get dull. When you are attempting this hack, make sure to go up with the razor and not down like you when you're shaving.

Question?
Does it ruin the jeans? Should it be an old pair that you no longer wear? And what about the girl razors with the moisturizing strip? Will it still work?
Thanks for the post. Wow, very interesting. I have never heard something like that before. You really interested me. I am going to check your theory immediately. I hope it really works ;-)
@Liz I haven't tried it myself yet, but based on the way the razor is being rubbed against the jeans, it shouldn't.
So basically, you're using friction to keep it clean which keeps it sharp.. Cool idea.
I always avoided buying those stupid refills in favor of the cheaper disposable razors but I'll try this out if I can find my old Mach 3.
Simply amazing! Definitly gonna try this.
I would imagine the static build up would help pull the dust and hair out of the blades...
I have heard the reason is that it realigns the molecules on the cutting edge making it sharp.
My husband is one of those who keeps using disposable razor blades until they're so dull they start almost pulling skin off his face; he can use a 10 pack of Bic shavers for a year! This vid gives me hope and makes me feel much better about his nasty habit; now I can tell him to use the same 10 shavers for 2 years!
Thanks for the advice! I've just opened a new package of Gillette Mach 3s this morning.
Same size.
Same price.
Blades contained within same size plastic container.
But only two blades! TWO BLADES!
At a time when the economy is tanking and every cent counts, to be shown such cynical opportunism by a company is extremely offensive. And, given that blades are sold behind the counter, one can't even see the small print stating that only two blades were being sold in a normal package...
